A wise elephant gazes through an abstract sunset, contemplating insights unknown. This monumental painting (one of my largest) began as an abstract then this African elephant appeared. I went back and forth between the abstract passages and the elephant but he truly came to life when I painted his eyes. I feel that there is history to be unearthed within the designs on the elephant. Tribal patterns are evoked through the sunset’s colors. This is an original painting.
